The import clients feature can be very useful in situations where you want to quickly add multiple clients into BILLWAZE or wish to transfer clients from your previous platform into BILLWAZE. You will need a .CSV file to perform an import. A Comma Separated Values (.CSV) file is a plain text file that will have a list of your clients with their respective information ( City, State, Telephone #, etc. ) required for the import. Once complete, click on the Start CSV Import. STEP 2 | From this screen, you will need to map which column header from your .CSV file ( notice red highlighted box in below image ) maps to which BILLWAZE field. Once all the .CSV columns are properly matched/mapped with the correct BILLWAZE fields, click on “Proceed Import With This Configuration” button. You are now ready to send invoices to these clients, set them up for recurring services, etc. Important Notes<ol class="PlaygroundEditorTheme__ol1"><li value="1" class="PlaygroundEditorTheme__listItem">All imports whether successful or skipped are logged into the “Master Log”. In this article we will discuss how to import clients into BILLWAZE from a third part system.

****When importing clients, BILLWAZE will look for the following column headers within your .CSV File:**** ( Example 1 )

3. First Name
4. Last Name
5. Address
6. Country

11. Billing Email Address

****STEP 1**** | To upload your .CSV file, navigate to the “Manage Clients” module and select the “Actions” button on the top right of your screen.

From the “Actions” menu, select****Import Clients****. You will see the following modal appear:

Drag and drop your .CSV file into the****Select or drag file**** box or select + to select the .CSV using your file explorer. Once complete, click on the****Start CSV Import.****

****STEP 2**** | From this screen, you will need to map which column header from your .CSV file ( notice red highlighted box in below image ) maps to which BILLWAZE field. If column headers are mapped exactly to the fields BILLWAZE requires ( See -> Example 1 above ), they will be shown in green next to each column ( see yellow arrow in image below ).

In the example above, the “Phone” column is not recognized as it doesn’t exactly match “Telephone #” required by BILLWAZE. To fix, click on the “Select” drop down in column 2 and select Telephone #. Once all the .CSV columns are properly matched/mapped with the correct BILLWAZE fields, click on “Proceed Import With This Configuration” button.

****STEP 3**** | Once BILLWAZE finishes importing your clients, a status indicator will appear on the following screen, as illustrated below.

As per the above screen, we notice that 13 clients imported successfully and that zero were skipped. Click on the Close Import button to close out of the import wizard. Once closed, your imported clients will appear in the Manage Clients table. You are now ready to send invoices to these clients, set them up for recurring services, etc.

****Important Notes****

1. All imports whether successful or skipped are logged into the “Master Log”. To view the master log, navigate to “Admin Settings” -> “Master Log”.
2. When importing, if no country exists for any client, BILLWAZE will assume the client is in the same country as that of your company and automatically assign that country to your client. For example, if you’re in the United States and the country field is left blank when importing client “ABC”, then BILLWAZE will automatically assign United States to client “ABC” as its country.
